Essential Points About the Five Precepts.IMPORTAIN.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH. When we were still living beings, everyone had confusion and mistakes. In order for Buddhists to avoid that confusion, the World-Honored One, depending on each level, created precepts. "Precepts" are the commandments, the purpose of preventing evil deeds, bringing sentient beings to a peaceful place. The precepts of lay Buddhists have the Five Precepts, the Eight Precepts, and the Bodhisattva Precepts. If they can live, their merit will increase, their blessings will increase, and if they don't live, they won't lose their identity. As for the five precepts, after taking refuge in the Three Jewels, every lay Buddhist must live; If you do not obey, your dignity will not be complete, you will lose your human body in the next life. The Five Precepts are the five commandments that are forbidden: not to kill, not to steal, not to commit adultery, not to speak falsely, and not to drink alcohol. 1. Do not kill: - In the first commandment, the Buddha advises us not to kill lives, from humans to animals. Buddhism forbids killing for the following reasons: A- Respect for equal Buddha-nature: - The World-Honored One said: All sentient beings have Buddha-nature and have the ability to become Buddhas. If the true nature is equal, then we should not think that Buddha nature in people is more valuable than in things, in that skin color, in that class. So to kill a life is to kill a future Buddha. B- Respect for justice: - All species know their lust for life and fear of death, except in situations of poverty or other important reasons, so they have to sacrifice their lives. We have considered our lives to be precious, if anyone plots harm, we use all kinds of ways to protect ourselves, why should we rely on the strong to kill the weak to satisfy our anger or seek delicious food? The fact that we do not want to bring lies to others and other species is a loss of justice. Therefore, think with your own heart the heart of people, even animals, do not kill, do not say to kill. C- Nurturing compassion: - That being sentient beings have consciousness, all species know pain, joy and sorrow. A small thing like when we stumble, we have a feeling of pain and in the scene of death and separation, everyone is sad! Then why should we heartlessly make another person or thing, before dying, groan in hot tears, writhe in blood, and suffer grief and sorrow in the scene of birth and death? A little bit of pain is still hard to bear, but it causes sentient beings infinite suffering, that is, without compassion, not worthy of being a child of Buddha. D- Avoiding evil cause and effect: - When we kill a person, we will inevitably cause resentment with their families and relatives. During that time, she was weak and the victim's relatives could only hold a grudge, but they were still waiting for the opportunity to take revenge. Animals too, if it can take revenge it will not tolerate the killer. According to Buddhist scriptures, those who kill for a long time, the more severe the killing karma, after death must fall into hell, hungry ghosts, animals, suffer immeasurable suffering. When he got his body, he suffered many diseases or died prematurely. So the more you kill, the more you increase your suffering and karma, forever spinning in the path of samsara, not knowing when to get out. On the other hand, if a person who observes the precepts does not kill or release living beings, he or she will receive the following retributions: full physical strength, little or no sickness, peace of mind and body, respect for everyone, a long life span, and regular enjoyment. blessings in heaven or in the human realm. 2- Do not steal: The second precept, the Buddha advised us not to steal from important things like gold and silver jewels, to petty things like vegetable stalks, chili peppers, and needles. In general, what people do not give, but we try to take, belong to thieves. If we make a broad distinction, there are many forms of theft and robbery such as: sneaking away, taking advantage of strong parties, relying on power to make money for the weak, taking advantage of the needy people to lend heavily or buy it at a cheap price. hoarding, hoarding, speculating to sell on the black market, underweight, evading taxes, smuggling boats, conspiring to defraud to get property... In a word, any form, if by greed to take private property or In the case of unrighteousness, all belong to thieves. Why did the Buddha forbid stealing? Because when it comes to property, we know how to respect and preserve it, but to try to appropriate it again is against justice. When we lose or unintentionally lose some money or things, we worry about sleeping peacefully; Why are you trying to take people's things so that they have to cry and suffer. That is the lack of compassion. Robbery causes inmates to be imprisoned, despised by their parents and family, and is also sad and ashamed. Moreover, if thieves cause people to fall into poverty or despair and give up their lives, the person who caused the cause will have to suffer a lot of karma. According to the Buddhist scriptures, thieves and robbers will suffer evil consequences, if they are light they will have to work hard and be poor, if they are heavy they will have to be animals to pay their debts, or they will fall into hell. Therefore, for the sake of justice, out of compassion, in order to preserve character, and in order to avoid evil retribution, the Blessed One admonished not to steal. If you keep the precepts of not stealing, but have compassion and help in giving, you will be loved by everyone, your compassion and good qualities will increase, your wealth will be full, you will be able to escape poverty, and you will often be reborn in the realms of heaven. Heaven and earth enjoy happiness. 3- Do not commit adultery: - Fornication is not strictly forbidden to men and women, but only to prevent adultery. According to this third precept, when a married couple has enough ceremony called righteous, in addition, sneaking around and doing unhappiness is called evil. To put it more subtly, even if a husband and wife are officially married, they are not in the right place, and they are not so close, and it is also part of adultery. The Buddha forbids adultery, because everyone wants their family to be warm and happy, their wife and children are chaste, if they go to sabotage and humiliate other people's families, it is against justice. Those who do misbehavior and play around, will be scorned and scorned by everyone, that is a loss of dignity. When there is evil thoughts in the house of a husband or wife, that family is no longer happy, because husband and wife do not trust each other, children are embarrassed, relatives do not care, career will decline. Those who indulge in lusts are like those who carry torches against the wind, When disaster returns to itself, if it does not harm the country and destroys the house, it will also damage the body and lose life. As we see in the daily press, the murders and catastrophic results caused by lust, if counted, are countless! According to the sutras, the evil results caused by evil desires, light, many lives without virginity, family disintegration, heavy will surely fall to the Three Realms. In short, for the sake of justice, for avoiding evil retribution in this life and the next, the Buddha has admonished not to commit adultery. If you keep the precepts not to commit adultery, your family life will be peaceful and happy, everyone will respect you, in the next life, your six roots will be dignified, your wife and children are chaste, you will be loved by others, you will be free from troubles and sorrows. The Decalogue said. 4- Do not say falsely: - General status about this fourth precept has four ways: lying, talking in a double-talk, speaking harshly. Lying is like not saying yes or no; the wrong to say right, to say the wrong thing, what is heard not heard, not heard heard heard; or praise in front, then criticize behind. In short, the words before and after are contradictory, the false truth is different, the inside and the outside are inconsistent, all belong to lies. Spoofing is doing less to make people angry, refining words to correct their mistakes, or using sweet and pleasant words to tempt people to fall in love, sometimes sarcastic. make the listener suffer. Roughly speaking, adding or subtracting words that are not true, up to frivolous, frivolous literature, making people crazy, reckless in mind, or giving birth to thoughts of grief and sadness, all belong to gossip. . Two-way talk is to bring this story to learn that, to bring that story here, to this place, to lean from this side to that side, to that side, causing both sides to generate anger and hatred for each other, making close friends become friends. suspicion against. To speak harshly is to scold and shout, to use many harsh words, to make the listener suffer or sad or afraid. These four things are all called echoes, ie words that are contrary to the truth. Because Buddhism is a true religion, if Buddhists always follow the trend of illusion without seeking the truth, it will be difficult to return to the true source. I have lived in delusion but also piled up more lies, how to come to liberation? Therefore, if you want to study Buddhism, you must respect the truth. Again, the motive of the lie is selfish greed and hatred, wanting to harm people to satisfy his dark ideas. Those who are deceived must have troubles and sufferings, sometimes bring resentment against kings or lose their families. If a cultivator does this, his conscience is lost, where is his love? A liar not only loses people's trust in him, but also causes confusion and doubt for many others. The peace in society is thus disturbed. Therefore, words are not swords, but it is even more dangerous, because it has the effect of two spears, one stabbing another, and the other stabbing the user. The Tathagata often emits a thorough sound, with a broad and long tongue that can reach the edge of the hair where bored, because many lifetimes of true practice, do not say false. According to the Buddhist scriptures, if the karma is light, it will bring the retribution of people losing their trust, getting bored and shunned, a job failure; such as saying that falsely has the character of harming people or destroying the Three Jewels, that person will fall into the three evil paths. When he becomes a human, he must be dumbfounded, subject to contempt and scorn. Therefore, out of respect for the truth, out of compassion, for preserving loyalty to oneself and in society, for avoiding evil retribution, the Buddha advised not to speak falsely. If you keep the precepts and do not lie, you will be respected and trusted by everyone, often like to be close, and do good work; And because true words come from a sincere heart, good qualities increase, often enjoying human blessings. 5- Do not drink alcohol: - Regarding the fifth precept, the Buddha advised not to drink alcohol yourself, or force others to drink. The reason why the Buddha forbade drinking alcohol because the more alcohol you drink, the more it enters the infiltrative place, diseases such as liver pain, eye pain, leprosy, paralysis, and cancer are born. also go to the children. People who drink alcohol when they are drunk, their gestures and words are rude, neglect their work, and are ridiculed by people laughing. If we drink a cup of poison, we will only die in the present body, but if we drink alcohol, our minds will become weak, wisdom will gradually lose, kill the dharmakaya, and fall into the cycle of birth and death for countless kalpas. Drinking wine again is not a crime, sexual misconduct, hope, but it is the cause of those four things and countless other sins. According to the sutras, drinking alcohol causes ten harms as follows: loss of money, body or body sickness, increase in killing heart, more hatred, controversy, wisdom fading, loss of merit and virtue, failed career, Roughly speaking, for the sake of avoiding illness, for keeping dignity, for preserving the seeds of wisdom, for preventing sin, the Buddha admonished not to drink alcohol. If you keep the precept not to drink alcohol, personally, you will avoid the above ten harmful things. In terms of mass, the family is happy, the children are cured of diseases, the society is harmonious, the race is more powerful. The above is only briefly about the benefits of keeping and breaking the five precepts. In terms of depth, ie the seed aspect, then as the Patriarchs have taught: if you kill, you will lose all the seeds of compassion; if you steal, you will lose all the seeds of merit; if you commit adultery, you will lose all the seeds of purity; if false, will lose all true seeds; If you drink wine, you will lose all the seeds of wisdom. To talk more about the dangers of violating the five precepts, please narrate the following passage for Buddhist students to be more careful. There are five things that in the present time, people cannot make wealth and life increase. The five are: killing, stealing, sexual misconduct, lying, and drinking. All sentient beings, because they love to kill, in this present life suffer from bad form, evil power, bad name, untimely death, loss of wealth, separation of their possessions, rebuke of the saints, distrust of others, and sins of others. that I bring disaster. It is karma in the present life. When he abandoned the sambhogakaya, he fell into the Three Paths, suffered evil form, evil power, bad name, hunger and thirst, suffered many sufferings, and his life was not long. This is the result of karma in the next life, until when you become a human, you will experience poverty, suffering, evil, illness, and short life. Due to the evil karma of people, the grain and crops outside are depleted, causing trouble for everyone. If a person likes to steal, then in this world he will suffer from evil, evil power, bad reputation, decrease in wealth, separation of relatives, short life, other people's loss of their belongings, suspicion, even if they want to make friends, they will not be able to get along. Those who trust are often rebuked by saints. It is karma in the present life. When relinquishing the sambhogakaya, one falls into the Three Paths, suffers from evil form, evil power, evil name, hunger and thirst, suffers many hardships, and has a short life. This is karma in the next life. When he was born as a human, he was poor, though he gained wealth and lost it, his parents, brothers and sisters, his wife and children were not loved, his heart was often miserable, and his mind was always sad. Due to the power of the person's evil karma, causing people to eat food, their physical strength is also poor, causing problems for thousands of people. If someone is fond of sexual misconduct, it will be difficult to preserve his body until others, everyone who sees it will have doubts. When he does anything first or tells lies, his mind is often confused, he suffers from suffering, and his material resources are wasted. practice good Dharma, wife and children despise sadness and no longer love, the body deteriorates and life is short. That is the present result of sexual misconduct. When he gave up the sambhogakaya, he fell into the Three Paths again, suffering from bad form, accumulating energy, hunger and thirst, suffering a lot, and his life was not long. This is karma in the next life. When you become a human, your appearance is ugly, or your speech is bad, no one likes to be friendly, you can't keep your concubines, sons and daughters. Due to the evil karma of people, making themselves and others not free. If anyone likes to speak falsely, then in the present life they will have bad looks and bad speech. Even if they tell the truth, no one will believe them, and everyone hates them and doesn't want to see them. That is the karma of the present life. When he abandoned the sambhogakaya, he fell into the Three Realms, suffering from hunger, thirst, heat, and extreme suffering. This is the karma of the next life. When he became a human, his mouth and voice were incomplete. Even if he told the truth, no one would believe him, and others would not like to meet him, although he would not like to hear when speaking about the Dharma. Due to the evil karma of the human being, the external products are often degraded. If a person likes to drink, then in the present he or she will lose wealth, become sick in body and mind, often love to fight, have a bad reputation, have low wisdom, have no shame in mind, wear out physical strength, and be unable to practice the Dharma. good, often criticized by many voices, people do not want to be close. That is the present karmic effect of drinking. When he gave up the sambhogakaya and then fell into the Three Realms, he often suffered hunger, thirst, and immeasurable suffering. This is the evil of the afterlife. When I become a human, my mind is often frantic, unable to think and remember the good Dharma. Due to this person's evil karma, the external products are often damaged and corrupted. Hey good man! The five evils as above, now can you truly separate? (Sutra on the Upright Tradition). Section II. The Ritual of the Five Precepts and the General Nature The ceremony of taking the five precepts, in general terms, as stated in the law: I am ... from now until the end of my life, please take refuge in the Buddha with two respects, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the faithful Sangha. (Say it three times). I am .... already taking refuge in the Buddha, taking refuge in the Dharma, taking refuge in the Sangha. Now, I am in the teachings of Shakyamuni Tathagata, vowing to take the five precepts as Upa Tac (or Upa Tathagata), and ask the Venerable Master to witness. (Say it three times. World teacher said): Good man! Shakyamuni Buddha, Amitabha Buddha, Arahaha, Tam Miu Tam Buddha Da, for the sake of the Upasakas, proclaimed the five precepts. Anyone who is an Upasaka (or Upasaka), must keep these five precepts for the rest of his life: The first thing, abstaining from killing for the rest of his life, is the precept of lay Buddhists, can you keep it? (Should answer: - Yes, keep it. The same goes for the following precepts). The second thing, a lifetime away from theft, is the precept of lay Buddhists, can you keep it? The third thing, a lifetime away from sexual misconduct, is the precept of lay Buddhists, can you keep it? The fourth thing, a lifetime of false talk, is the precepts of lay Buddhists, can you keep it? Fifth, for the rest of my life, I abstain from drinking glutinous rice wine, grape wine, all kinds of alcohol are not allowed to drink, is the precept of lay Buddhists, can I keep it? (December Reciting the Essential Uses of Ma Bhikkhus). Of the five precepts above, the former four belong to gender, the latter one belongs to the general precepts. Talking about the precepts, because these precepts are related to the character, just as someone who commits adultery is suddenly heavy in lust, and someone who commits false speech has a deceitful mind. So about the precepts, whether people receive the precepts or not, if they break them, they will all fall. And general gender is about the form of taking an oath to prevent mistakes; If you have a life, you will commit a crime; if you don't live, you will not commit a crime. However, this is to say that people who do not receive the wine precept only drink a little alcohol, so they do not carry the crime of the legal world; If you don't take the precepts of alcohol, but drinking too much will also cause karma and fall. The precept also has the case of declaration, price, ie open and close. For example, a person who has received precepts does not lie, but out of compassion wants to save the lives of animals, or wants to avoid useless suffering for others, but by means of lies, he will not commit a crime. Or, if you have received the alcohol precept, but because of the paralysis, you must use alcohol to treat it, you can lie in front of the Buddha or the monks and ask for the means to use alcohol to treat the disease for a while. This is the meaning of "declared", ie temporarily opened, or temporarily given. As the case does not need means, or when temporarily using means to benefit yourself and others, you must be sure to keep the precepts not to violate. This is the meaning of "price", i.e. close, or compartment close. Therefore, taking the precepts is not always limiting the practitioner to a framework, and the way of keeping the precepts of the wise does not have to follow a fixed line forever. According to the Vi Tang Huu Sutra, on the day of the eighty-year-old man's life, Mrs. Mat Ly's wife had to drink alcohol, lie, play music, and make up her body. After the governor escaped, the wife asked about it, the Buddha said that she had not broken the precepts but was still blessed, and again praised her as a practitioner with wisdom and means. So the ordained should reflect on this, don't be too afraid. In addition to the declaration, price, it also means "maintenance, violation". As after receiving the precepts, in normal cases without means, the nine righteous practitioners keep the precepts called "keeping". If you have received the precepts but do not keep, or the case is not worth the means, the means are called "violation". Those who have received the precepts must be aware of the four meanings of declaration, price, maintenance, and violation above. In order for scholars to understand more clearly in receiving the precepts, please cite a passage explaining the price of sin and the true sin (actually the nature of sin): - In the five precepts of Uposatha, what belongs to the true sin and the price of sin? The first four precepts belong to the true sin, the latter one belongs to the price of sin. The reason why drinking alcohol together with the above four things forms the five precepts, is because it is the source of licentiousness, or causes the violation of the other four precepts. For example, in the time of the Buddha Kasyapa, there was an Upasaka who, because he despised the fifth precept, was distracted by drinking alcohol and then had a craving for meat, stole someone else's chicken and killed it. The neighbor woman came to look for chickens, but was raped by him. When asked by others, he denied that he did not do it. In the end, because he was temporarily distracted by alcohol, he broke all four of the other precepts. Some people commit four crimes by drinking alcohol, except not being able to break the Sangha. Therefore, even though people who drink alcohol do not have professional karma, they suffer from hysterical retribution, because alcohol often causes confusion and confusion, making sentient beings as foolish as stupor. Once again distracted by alcohol, All meditators must give up right karma such as sitting meditation, chanting and doing them. So drinking alcohol is not a real crime, but due to the above conditions, it is easy to be with real sin. (The Great Means of Buddha Retribution). Section III. Brief Theory of Getting the Precepts People who receive the five precepts should know what the precepts are. To demonstrate and conceptualize this, please quote a few passages as follows: - At that time, Mr. Uu Ba Ly said: - The World-Honored One! A person who receives the Uposatha precepts, in case he finds it difficult to keep the five precepts, if he takes one or two or four precepts, can he be called attaining the precepts? The Buddha replied: "- That person has not attained the precepts, World-Honored One! If he does not attain the precepts, why is there a place in the sutras where it says a few parts, most of them, until the end of the Uposaurs? So what does that mean? The reason I say that is because I want to demonstrate the virtues of keeping the precepts more or less, not saying there is a way to receive such precepts. Uu Ba Ly again said: - Bach World Religion! Is it possible to receive the five precepts from one, two, up to ten days? Buddha said: - Impossible! The Tathagata invents the precepts with a limit of each. If you take the Five Precepts, you must live your whole life, like the Eight Precepts, it's only for one day and one night. The magic of the White Four Demons transmits precepts as well as upper, middle, and lower. The five precepts are the low-quality precepts, the ten precepts are the middle-class precepts, and the specific precepts are the upper-grade precepts. As for the five precepts, there are also three products: If you use the lower mind to live, you will get the lower quality precepts; if you use the medium-level mind to live, then you'll get the middle-class precepts; If you use a superior mind, you will attain the precepts of superior quality. The Ten Precepts and the Precepts also have three such products. The Five Precepts are the foundation of the precepts, because in the Eight Precepts, the Ten Precepts, the Precepts, and the Bodhisattva Precepts, there are also five basic precepts. If someone first uses a lower grade mind to obtain the Five Precepts, and then uses a middle or high grade mind to receive the Ten Precepts or the Grand Precepts, then the other precepts will belong to the middle or upper class, while the five basic precepts still belong to the lower class. Products. Why? Because the precept is the Prajnaparamita that cannot be obtained twice. Again, if we take it according to class, then the Five Precepts belong to the lower class, the Ten Precepts belong to the middle class, and the Specific Precepts belong to the upper class. But if you just follow the mind to reason, it's different. If someone uses a superior mind and attains the Five Precepts, that belongs to the upper class precept. If one uses the middle-class mind to attain the Ten Precepts, it belongs to the middle-class precept. If you use a low-level mind to attain the Precepts, it belongs to the lower-quality precepts. Because, in this sense, the precepts that belong to the top class according to their own mind, or the five precepts, belong to the lower class. (The Great Means of Buddha Retribution). Regarding the Threefold Path, among the five paths only human beings attain precepts, while the other four are very difficult. Why? Because the devas in the heavenly realms are deeply perturbed, so it is difficult to attain precepts. As before, Venerable Muc Kien Lien, because of his sick disciple, went to heaven to ask for treatment in Mr. Ky Ba (he was born in heaven). When the day arrived, the gods were entering the Garden of Joy and Joy. At that time, all the gods passing by saw the Venerable standing on the side of the road, but no one paid any attention. Mr. Ky Ba went last, saw the Venerable, immediately raised a hand to salute, then drove straight away. Mr. Muc Kien Lien thought to himself: This person, when he was still in the human world, was his lay disciple; Now, just enjoying the blessings of heaven, has quickly forgotten the old nature. After thinking about it, he immediately used divine power to stop the carriage as he wished. Reluctantly, Ky Ba had to get off the car and pay respects at her feet. The venerable immediately said many causes and conditions to rebuke. Ky Ba said: Bach Dai Duc! Because when I was still in the human world, I was his disciple, so I was able to make such a gesture, and all the other gods passed through, no one greeted me? It is because the joy here is so wonderful, so the gods are absorbed, the mind is not free. Please have mercy on your body. The venerable asked: My disciple is so ill, how to treat? Ky Ba said: Just ban food for a few days. How to treat? Ky Ba said: Just ban food for a few days. How to treat? Ky Ba said: Just ban food for a few days. There was a degree, Mr. Muc Kien Lien advised Thich De Hoan Nhan that: The birth of the Tathagata was a rare victory, why didn't he often get close to the Buddha to ask about the Dharma? Emperor Shakyamuni wanted to show him how difficult it was to get his wish, so he ordered a divine son to come. This heavenly son had a goddess whose music for a period of time, although he knew that the divine emperor's command was majestic, but because he was so deeply infatuated, he reluctantly waited for the fourth call to put his joy aside. trying to show up. The Emperor asked why he was late, and he was ashamed to tell the truth. At that time, Emperor Shakyamuni said: Bach Venerable! This Son of Heaven has only one goddess, one era of music, but it is still difficult to cut off the joy. How much more than that I am a heavenly king with many splendid palaces, countless jeweled concubines serving, hundreds of thousands of wonderful music, looking east to forget the west, boundless love and happiness, the severance is much more difficult! Therefore, even though it is difficult to understand the Tathagata, it is difficult to hear the true Dharma, but we do not know how to stay close! People who receive the precepts must use a strong mind to make a vow to themselves to be able to attain the precepts. The reason why it is difficult for the gods to attain precepts is because the idea of being infatuated with the pleasures of the five sensual pleasures is heavy, and the strength of good will is weak. Hungry ghosts suffer from hunger and thirst, hot body and mind; they in hell suffer immeasurable sufferings and poisons, their minds only remember suffering, so they do not attain precepts here. And most of them are born because of heavy karma, do not understand anything, do not receive the dharma precepts, so it is also difficult to attain the precepts. Although there are many places in the sutras where the dragon asks for a son, but because of his good heart, he can only gain good merit, but it is not difficult to obtain a son, because there are many karmic obstacles. Regarding the human way, among the four worlds, only humans in the three continents: Jambudvipa, Cu da ni, and Phat Ba De can attain precepts. Again, among the three continents, people in Jambudvipa are the most likely to attain precepts. On the island of Cu da ni, in the past, the World-Honored One sent the venerable Tan Dau Lu over there to do Buddhist work, so there were four sets of them. Chau Phat asked many monks to become enlightened and propagate, so there were also four sets of them. Only people in the United States of America because of their blessings and retribution, but with their ignorance and ignorance, do not receive the holy Dharma, and the true teaching cannot circulate, so they do not have the predestined conditions to attain precepts. There are four classes of human beings: male, female, fluorescent, and two senses. Of these four classes, only men and women have attained precepts, while huang mon and two faculties have not attained precepts. Of the two classes of men and women, those who kill fathers, mothers, and Arahants, cause the Buddha's body to bleed, destroy the harmony of the Sangha, defame bhikkhunis, steal the throne, save those who transcend the law, fall into good roots, are all unmarried. (Slapping Lady Bhikkhuni Bhikkhu Sa). Section IV- Generals of breaking the precepts Having learned through the attainment of precepts, Buddhists should understand what is the generals of breaking precepts. As the following passage: ... Having finished the precepts, it should be said: There are six great dharmas that the Upasakas and Upasakas need to strictly uphold: Hey good man! All lay Buddhists who have already received precepts, from the saints below to the insects, are not allowed to intentionally kill them. If he kills himself or tells someone to kill, that person will lose the Uposaur precepts, and still can't get the Dharma, let alone the results of Tu Da Hoan until the fruit of Ananda! Committing this fault, that is, the class of Up and down the Dharma world, evil, vile, unclean, and karmic. This is the first important law, must be kept!. Household Buddhists who have already received the precepts, even if they meet a predestined condition and lose their lives, are not allowed to steal from gold, silver, jewels below, down to a single coin. If he steals and robs, that person will lose the Uposatha precepts, and still can't get the Dharma, let alone the results of Tu Da Hoan until the fruit of Ananda! Committing this mistake, that is, the Up and down class breaks precepts, is evil, vile, unclean, and dead. This is the second important dharma, which must be kept. Household Buddhists who have received the precepts, even if they meet with predestined conditions and lose their lives, cannot speak falsely, such as saying: I have been contemplating the impure contemplation, up to the fruition of Ananda. If he commits a great crime of false speech, he or she will lose the precepts of the U Ba Tac, still not being able to ovulate the Dharma, let alone the results of Tu Da Hoan until the results of Ananda! Committing this mistake, that is, the class of Up and down breaks the precepts, is evil, vile, unclean, and dead. This is the third important dharma, which must be kept! Household Buddhists who have already received the precepts, even if they meet predestined circumstances and lose their lives, are not allowed to commit adultery. If he commits adultery, that person will immediately lose the precepts of Ups and downs, and still can't get the dharma, let alone the results of Tu da refinance to the fruit of Ananda! Committing this mistake, that is, the class of Up and down breaks the precepts, is evil, vile, unclean, and dead. This is the fourth important dharma, which must be kept! Household Buddhists who have received the precepts, even if they meet a predestined fate and lose their lives, are not allowed to speak about the mistakes of the Bhikkhu, Bhikkhuni, Upasaka, and Upasaka. If he proclaims the sins of the four groups, that person will lose the Uposatha precepts, still not get the Dharma, let alone the results of Tu Da Hoan until the fruit of Ananda! Committing this mistake, that is, the class of Up and down breaks the precepts, is evil, vile, unclean, and dead. This is the fifth important dharma, which must be kept! Household Buddhists who have already received the precepts, even if they meet a predestined condition and lose their lives, are not allowed to drink alcohol or sell alcohol. If he drinks wine and sells alcohol, that person will lose the precepts of Ups and downs, and still can't get to the Dharma, let alone the results of Tu Da Hoan until the fruit of Ananda! Committing this mistake, that is, the class of Up and down breaks the precepts, is evil, vile, unclean, and dead. This is the sixth important dharma, which must be kept! Hey good man! If the person who received the Upasaka precept could wholeheartedly uphold what he had received, without undoing his transgressions, such results would surely be obtained. (Sutra on the Upright Tradition). As above, the Uba Tac Gioi Sutra clearly explains the general breaking of precepts of lay Buddhists. Someone said: "Regarding the killing precepts, the five precepts are limited to humans, the ten precepts and the specific precepts to common animals, and the bodhisattva precepts to the insect species. restricting the insect species, lay Buddhists cannot keep it." That statement is not true, because all sentient beings have birth and pregnancy, if you kill, you will decide to bring evil retribution. Like people who are not yet vegetarians, they can buy things that are already dead or butchered, and should not kill themselves or ask others to kill them. As far as flies, mosquitoes, insects, except in the case of knowing and trying to kill will violate the precepts, and manslaughter, you only need to eat the year of repentance and then pay more attention to it later, it does not belong to the fault of delinquency. Someone said: Can Buddhist soldiers keep the precepts of killing? Please answer: In terms of means, it is possible. As in the past, Zen master Nguyen Khue in China after attaining enlightenment, a god Dong Nhac came to ask for the three refuges of the five precepts. When the master sent the first message, Yue Chen replied, "The disciple is in charge of an entire region. If a subordinate commits a serious crime but doesn't punish him, how can he maintain discipline?" The master replied, "It's not like that! Just don't abuse it"! The music god said, "In this way, the disciples can keep it." Then in the sense of means, because of the performance of duty, because of the reluctance to commit murder, the Buddhist soldiers can keep the first precept. Broadly speaking, as in the Nirvana Sutra, when his predecessor was a king, Shakyamuni Buddha killed the great minister in order to protect the Dharma for the benefit of sentient beings. And in another passage, in the same past as a boat owner named Dai Bi, Shakyamuni Buddha killed sixteen pirates for the sake of saving another five hundred wounded. In both of those cases, the Buddha said that thanks to that, he was able to get rid of his sins and be blessed, and quickly attain the result of A Nau Da La Tam Mieu Tam Bodhi. Therefore, in accordance with the truth of wisdom and compassion for others, there are cases where, although killing, you do not break the precepts, but rather keep the precepts, and also gain more blessings from your karma. But that's the wisdom of the bodhisattvas and the actions of the bodhisattva, so we shouldn't rush with a coarse mind and just follow it with the intention to kill. The reason why the author cited the above is to show the broad meaning of the Buddhadharma, As the Buddha said: when we were still living beings, we all made mistakes. If you have not yet attained the monastic life, you will still be under the influence of afflictions. Especially in this Dharma-ending age, there are very few people who turn to their true cultivation, and many who make mistakes. Therefore, all Buddhists should maintain their loyalty and compassion, examine their own faults, tolerate others' faults, and find ways to repair and support each other; Don't brag about their faults. By doing so, you have planted the evil seeds of hatred and hatred inside yourself, and externally harmed people's brains, hindered the benevolence of those who want to learn the Way, and created karma to destroy the Buddhadharma. Therefore, the Buddha combined the sin of saying the fault of the four groups into one of the six great dharmas. However, there are Buddhists who, because of their lack of study, understanding, and pride, or because of their own factions, proclaim the wrongs and mistakes of monks and nuns and their fellow believers; Is that worthy to be the son of the Ruler? Please be honest here as a general reminder for all Buddhist learners, to avoid suffering in the present and in the future.END=NAMO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.26/6/2021.
