MEANINGS of Refuge and Prohibited Sex Language. Taking refuge dates back to the time of Buddha Shakyamuni. The first refuge was the parents of the elder Yassa, who was a rich man. Mr. Yassa woke up one day to see many waiters lying in bed, including some with eyes open, some with eyes closed, some drooling, some snoring, some groaning. That not-so-beautiful image made Yassa boring and sad to leave, but really didn't know where to go. One day, he went out of the house. The Buddha saw Yassa's good fortune, so he released his halo to bring Yassa to meet the Buddha, then Yassa listened to the Buddha's teaching and gladly left home, not long after he attained enlightenment. The next morning, Yassa's parents and 54 friends knew he was missing, so they went to find him. They went to see the Buddha, listened to the Buddha's sermon, and then took refuge in the Three Jewels. Buddha said: "When you take refuge, you will find me!". Those were the first two people who took refuge in the Triple Gem. In the past, there were two young merchants in Burma who also took refuge in the Dharma Two Jewels, that is, taking refuge in the Buddha, taking refuge in the Dharma. At that time there was no Sangha, so there were only two treasures. So what is taking refuge in the Three Jewels? Three is three, to take refuge is to return, to take refuge in the Three Jewels is to return to take refuge in the three treasures: Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. The ritual of taking refuge: there must be offerings such as flowers, fruits, and paying respects to the monk. Place of refuge: can be a temple, can be a private residence. The temple is a more reasonable refuge. So today, Buddhists come to Bodhi Monastery to take refuge and choose a guru to guide them to take refuge in order to study the Way and understand the Dharma. Once you have taken refuge, you should know that every temple is a common temple for everyone to practice. The monk is the finger that shows you the moon. The monk is not the moon. So you should enjoy for yourself the beauty of the moon, how round, bright, shimmering, magical or brilliant it is, not how long or short your fingers, beautiful or ugly, scabies or no scabies. To take refuge in the Buddhadharma is to rely on the Three Jewels to practice. The ancients have a saying: ''Medical medicine is not human''. That is, relying on the Dharma to repair one's xinxing, not depending on a certain person. The object of refuge is the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. Why take refuge in Buddha? Take refuge in the Buddha because Buddha is an enlightened person who truly sees the truth. His truth and explanation can help us to end our suffering. We can be proud that Buddha is an enlightened king. Throughout his life, he served sentient beings. From his position as a king, he interrupted the intense love of his father, removed his wife's clinging arm, and left the newly born baby still lying on the mother's lap. That heroic person passed away with all the meaning of escapism that still resonates to this day. All of us sitting here are under the influence of the Buddha's renunciation. Why take refuge in the Dharma? Taking refuge in the Dharma because the Buddha's teachings have the ability to help us reduce suffering, practicing his teachings helps us to be free of defilements. The 8th edition of Theravada Buddhist magazine has published a message from United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki Moon to the world celebration of Vesak: ''Buddha, Birth, Enlightenment and Nirvana of He is commemorated by us each year on the fifteenth day of the fourth month of Vesak, leaving humanity with a wealth of teachings that are profound and can guide our efforts to solve the serious problems we face. we are facing in today's world. His instruction against the three poisons, namely Greed, Aversion, and Delusion. That exhortation could spark multilateral conversations about the hunger that affects nearly a billion people in our rich world, the beastly violence that has claimed the lives of thousands of people. people every year, and about the indiscriminate destruction of the environment, endangering our only home, the earth on which we live.'' We see the Buddha and his teachings. he is so great. The Buddha's teachings have a message that conveys the spirit of compassion too great for humanity, promoting the wisdom of compassion and right view for humanity. His Dharma is a great culture for mankind, a spirit of non-violence, so the IOC Council annually organizes the World Vesak Triangle Festival, bringing together Buddhist traditions to attend. Dharma has two, Dharma study and practice, So we take refuge in the Dharma, we take refuge in the Dharma, and we take refuge in the Dharma. Dharma study is that there are 84,000 dharma doors, the golden and jade molds of the Buddha preached for 45 years. Dharma practice is the quintessence of Buddha's teachings, followers have the ability to become enlightened, end suffering, enlightened and liberated, no longer samsara. Why Take Refuge in Sangha? Sangha in Pali is called Sangha, which means community of monks and disciples of the Buddha. Sangha has two classes of Saints and Pharisees. The holy monks are those who have attained the status from Tu Da Huan to Arahant. The Pham Sangha are those who are practicing and studying to reach the path of liberation. They both cultivate and guide the people to follow the right path of enlightenment of the Buddhas, their image is the model of the population, the field of blessings of gods and humans. Therefore, taking refuge in the Sangha is to affirm our faith in the Buddhadharma in this life. then continue to practice in the right way under the guidance of the fake Tathagata, which is a good factor to meet the Buddha in the future. BENEFITS OF Taking refuge Those who take refuge in the Buddha, bow to the Buddha, and praise the Buddha have great merit. With great merit, one can have a high position in society, such as being a president or director. If you go to practice, you will become the dharma master, the abbot, and the monk. Taking refuge in the Dharma, bowing to the Dharma, making offerings to the Dharma Jewel, and publishing scriptures and scriptures are blessed with wisdom. Therefore, those who feel that they are not wise and study less should try to publish many books and tapes to gain wisdom. Taking refuge in the Sangha is blessed with wealth because the Sangha is the field of merit for sentient beings. Why? Because of taking refuge in the Sangha, we closely study the Buddhadharma and give alms, and giving is the cause of wealth and prosperity. During the Buddha's lifetime, There is Mr. Loneliness, after taking refuge in the Buddha, he found a land to offer to the Buddha to build a temple. He donated about two or three dozen acres to build Ky Vien Tinh Xa. Every day he invited 500 monks to give alms, making offerings so that the gods in his house were jealous because they had poor minds. There were gods who advised Mr. Loneliness to stop doing too many meritorious deeds that are easily exhausted. But Mr. Alone at that time, having attained Tu Da Huong, said: "I have a heart of generosity but you do not agree with me, please go out of my house". The devas who were driven out of Mr. A's house, wandered to meet the king of heaven, De Thich, begging for him to speak for him and ask for permission to stay in his house. The king of heaven, Di Thich, said to this deva: ''Your sins deserve death, if you dare to offend a saintly disciple of the Buddha, then I have some advice: Please use magical powers to collect assets for Mr. Loneliness, which has been lost for many years by earthquakes, storms, etc., has now drifted to the sea and rivers. Collected and brought to the warehouse of Mr. Level Loneliness. Having done that, he went back to ask for repentance and perhaps he would gladly let him stay. The gods did exactly as the King of Heaven told him, so it worked, and the gods were very happy." Therefore, when giving alms in accordance with the way, blessings will increase. Those who take refuge in the Three Jewels, evil spirits never dare to disturb, charms can never do harm. Refugees read many times the sentence: I take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, and take refuge in the Sangha, no evil spirits can invade. What is breaking refuge? There are two cases of breaking refuge, giving up Buddhism to follow another religion, two when the body broke up and died. In the first case, we wish that we should not do it, because abandoning one's religion and following another is immoral, unfaithful, grateful. Being such a ungrateful person is a heavy karmic burden. However, because circumstances force us to follow another religion, remember that Buddha is in the heart, doing good to avoid evil, keeping a pure mind, that is also true refuge. The second case is the common sense of the world, when you die, you break the Three Refuges. However, according to Buddhism, death is a change of life, changing from one form to another, depending on our good and bad minds and our karma. If people do good, the situation will change, if people do evil, they will change the situation. People who take refuge, when they die, take refuge, thanks to the blessing of taking refuge, they are born in a leisurely scene, where they continue to meet the Buddha Dharma and take refuge. What is a refuge? You have taken refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, Sangha, Believing in the principle of karma, but because of greed, he worships other gods, prays and begs for other gods to bless other than Shakyamuni Buddha, outside the Sangha, so it's called taking refuge. The impurity is the mind that is defiled by the object of the theocracy outside of the three jewels, which has an inhuman nature, is far from causality, is superstitious, etc., especially without right views. The Buddha said: Those who do not have the right view of samsara will be endless. So happiness or suffering is our own. Sin or happiness is created by our own mind, only our mind is good or bad, only our mind is selfless or selfish. The Sanskrit word is PANCA SILA, the five precepts are the foundation of Buddhism, the moral basis of human beings. Buddha taught, there are four continents under the world, we are living in the Southern Good Region, life expectancy is 100 years, while people in Northern Europe, people live 1000 years, the five precepts are natural. That is, whoever is born in this land also has to keep the five precepts, so the body breaks down, lives together, and gives birth to a leisurely scene. The Five Precepts are the five things Buddha forbids not to commit, namely: not killing, not stealing, not engaging in sexual misconduct, not lying, and not drinking alcohol. First of all, a Buddhist should not kill even a small animal, because it is not killing to train compassion and sow the seeds of liberation. Otherwise, we will fall and have a short life. In fact, we forgot a family in the countryside with a woman who works as an eco-tourism site manager. She runs a restaurant, so because of profit, she has to kill a lot of living beings every day. One day, she had a heart attack and died at the age of 50. The husband mourned and wept bitterly. We found out that it was because of her killing. Damaged things too much, so resentment accumulated very quickly and had to die suddenly. Normally, people live from 1 to 59 years old and die, it is called a short life. On tombstones, it is often written as enjoying yang. If you are over 60 years old, if you die, you will be recorded as enjoying your life. So people living to the age of 80 are very precious. So, if you keep the precept to kill, you will live a long life. In India, people have a tradition of wishing each other: Good luck to your family, grandfather dies, father dies, then son dies. That's a lucky thing. Because if the grandfather has to cry for the grandchild, the father has to cry for the child, it is the misfortune of the family. Those who observe the precept not to steal (not to take what is not given) gain a lot of property, and even if they have property, they will not be stolen. In fact, there are many people who are sick of petty theft, seeing what they like is pocketing. That is a bad habit. The later thief has no possessions. If so, it's likely stolen. Keeping the precept of not committing adultery (living in a monogamous relationship with a husband and wife) by not acting, being close to the opposite sex that society forbids, parents forbidding, brothers forbidding, you will not suffer in love, you will not be unhappy in love feel, always be happy in marriage and family. It's all because of our blessings. Keeping the precept not to lie, means that a Buddhist must speak the right word. Along with not lying, we also do not speak harshly, do not speak double-tongued, do not speak cruelly. In short, people who keep this precept will have prestige in society, dear friends, happy family, and peaceful society. Retribution, those who keep this precept will have high power and great position in society. Keeping the precept not to drink alcohol and intoxicants is a taboo in the Buddhist house. Thus alcohol was banned, Beer is also not allowed and intoxicants are not allowed by true Buddhists. Why did the Buddha forbid this rule? Because he realized that alcohol and intoxicants have the potential to corrupt this body, the family is not happy, the society is not peaceful. What is more remarkable than drinking too much, when giving birth to children, their intelligence rate is low. Intoxicants have the ability to make our present and future dull, less intelligent and potentially lead to nerves, until then we ourselves suffer and those around us even more miserable. Should respect all, we try to keep this learning. BENEFITS OF Keeping the Precepts The Buddha taught that there are benefits to those who keep the precepts as follows: 1) Bold, confident when walking in a crowd 2) Sleep is also happy 3) Wake is also happy 4) Mind is happy. not panicking at the time of death 5) After the dissolution of the body and death, born as gods. The retribution of those who keep the precepts, will have full limbs, in a family of wealth, power, and morality, they will enjoy immediate blessings when they are born. You know that when you observe and keep the precepts, the monks often recite and recite: Sentient beings are born in heaven by keeping precepts, sentient beings are rich by keeping precepts, and sentient beings are liberated and enter Nirvana by keeping precepts. . Because of these reasons, you should cherish good faith, try to keep the precepts to be pure, not to be tainted." Rich here means to know enough is to be rich. People who know the way always live without waste. Today, Buddhists have taken refuge in the Three Jewels. Praise the merit to the nine Buddhists who have generated pure minds and happily return to take refuge in the three jewels. When you know the meaning of taking refuge and taking the five precepts, I believe you will be even happier.END=NAMO SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA.( 3 TIMES ).GOLDEN AMITABHA MONASTERY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.AUSTRALIA,SYDNEY.21/6/2021.VIETNAMESE TRANSLATE ENGLISH BY=VIETNAMESE BUDDHIST NUN=THICH CHAN TANH.
