So the mechanical causality mentioned by Tuc Mang Luan is only a part of the problem. If taking a point to represent the whole, there will be many mistakes in the conclusion. Confucianists also talk about cause and effect, but mainly from social reality and real life to explain, unlike the Buddhist principle of causality throughout the past, present, and future three lives. It is said that a disciple asked him that after he died, Confucius replied: "You still don't know what to say until you die". Therefore, when Confucianism talks about the issue of cause and effect, it usually only refers to the immediate life, not to comprehensively understand the phenomenon of life. Also because of that, it is only possible to bring some causal problems to future generations, such as: "accumulating good family, all usefulness; Accumulation of unwholesome family members, all residual property." What is called "the accumulation of good family, all the benefits of the family" That is to say, because the ancestors accumulated virtue, they have good and good descendants. As for "accumulation of unwholesome family, all residual usefulness" is said to be caused by parents doing many unscrupulous things to induce the birth of children who are not good and have no morality. This is true but not completely because in social reality we can see parents as noble and honorable people, but it is not certain that the family has had "filial and respectful" descendants. On the other hand, parents who are morally corrupt are not sure that their children will be dishonest people. In history, like Nguu Thuan is typical, Nguu is a wise and wise man in history, but his son, Dan Chu, is an unfaithful person. King Thuan is a sage and sage who has been known for a long time, but his father Co Tau is a man of poor quality....so he should see that if he only uses the blood relation of his parents to explain the phenomenon of cause and effect, many things cannot It is clear that because we do not understand the causal law of ourselves, we have incomplete judgments about the law of cause and effect. Believe that there are saints, there are ordinary people. In the Buddhadharma, the lives of sentient beings are divided into ten levels, also known as the ten dharma realms, in which there are four holy results and six worldly results. Being Thien, Human, Asura, Hell, Preta, and Animal are called six mortals. The four saints are Buddha, Bodhisattva, Pratyekabuddha, and Thanh Van. We soon had modern medical machines such as X-ray machines, or CT machines, and had enough technology to illuminate and scan parts of the body, but we couldn't make these tools. to search for diseases of the spirit and not be able to find out where the afflictions are lurking in each person's body. We don't have a method to measure it, much less the tools to cut out defilements. Therefore, in today's era of scientific development, the afflictions and sufferings of the human heart have not been reduced, but on the contrary, have grown and become more complex. How did the Buddhadharma explain the principle of cause and effect? The Ten Good and Karma Sutras are an introduction to good and evil cause and effect and human destiny. Many people may think that what is beneficial to them is good, and vice versa is evil. Lai Gia, so those actions will all become karmic causes when mature conditions will create karma. Therefore, the ancients said: "Good and evil are first, common is good; "Just fighting back and forth" means that good deeds should all result in happiness, negative actions should result in suffering, the difference is only a matter of time, maybe a retribution in the present life. It can also be in the future or many lives in the future. In addition, good and evil deeds also bring different external results For example, when killing others, the opponent will harbor resentment and wait for the opportunity to take revenge, so once the predestined conditions are mature, they will attract the corresponding retribution. From the Buddhadharma, whether it is becoming a Buddha, or being reborn in a heavenly realm or as a human, to falling as an animal or a hungry ghost, it is all caused by the corresponding causes and conditions. Buddhism holds that: "There is no natural birth of Maitreya, nor is there a natural Shakyamuni" This tells us that Maitreya Bodhisattva is not born like this, nor is Shakyamuni accomplished. In the Buddha's Birth Sutra, it is clearly stated that Shakyamuni Buddha planted many causes and conditions, and after many lifetimes of ascetic practice, he achieved the path and fruition. Humans are also due to karmic retribution, and when they are born as human beings, they are also born in different places depending on each person's correct medical report. Being born as a human is also due to predestined conditions and different karma to create race, background, appearance, temperament, etc., all kinds of differences. Some people have a good life, a peaceful life, some people, on the contrary, have many accidents and a difficult life. There are many such cases in society. In an agency or organization, leaders are not necessarily virtuous than their subordinates, in a city people living in the lower classes are often more capable than others. If you do not understand cause and effect, it is very easy to develop the mentality of "resenting heaven and blaming the earth", resenting God for injustice, resentment of unreasonable fate, losing your will, and losing faith in life. If we understand the law of cause and effect, we can clearly understand that fate is caused by different karma from previous lives. "The predestined relatives of the grave". On the one hand, don't be too "convenient for others", on the other hand, don't be too self-deprecating because fate can be changed, the decision is in yourself. Today may be a gentleman, but tomorrow may also be a sinner. Today he is a beggar, but the next day he becomes a rich man. In this changing world of impermanence all glory and hardship, all favorable and unfavorable circumstances over time are interchangeable. As long as we fully understand the principle of cause and effect, we will understand how to design destiny, how to change the cause of birth? Greed leads to war to take possession of other people's land and benefits. In the peaceful period, greed also leads to the phenomenon of "scheming to harm life" to friends and relatives who also plot to harm each other for their own benefit. Greed also leads to theft, sexual misconduct, and false speech. Because of greed for money, they kill people, rob others, appropriate other people's property, because of lust, commit adultery. Because of greed, they deceive people, because they are greedy, they lie, because they deceive love, they lie to trade in children, drug trafficking, tax evasion, smuggling, production and sale of fake goods, acts of social instability Associations come from greed. If you want to continue to be a human or be born in the next life, you must practice the five precepts and the ten virtues. The content of the five precepts and the ten virtues is identical. Divided into non-killing birth, non-gathering, non-sexual misconduct, no false speech. Most Venerable Thanh Nghiem in "The Precepts of the General Law School" likens the Five Precepts as a passport to heaven and human realms. Only with passports can we travel to other countries, we can travel anywhere in the world without obstacles. In the same way, we must uphold the five precepts before we can step on the human path to be born in heaven or continue to be human. For Buddhists, humanity is very important. In the Six Paths, the Heavenly Dao has the greatest blessings, such as in the Desire Realm, the environment is good, enjoying infinitely, without any accidents, In the realm of heaven of form, sentient beings enjoy the joy of meditating and enjoying more than the world of Desire. But Buddhism does not take heaven as the destination, does not take birth in heaven as the end. This is the difference between Buddhism and other religions. Most other religions take Heaven as the most ideal place, taking birth in heaven as the goal of human life. But Buddhism thinks that from the perspective of communicating the truth and from the perspective of achieving liberation, the human world is the most precious place "from humanity to victory" why? Because there are so many good things in the heavenly world, people forget about other things because of their passion for pleasure. "Regardless of living in danger", not knowing how to develop the mind to practice, let alone heaven is not a permanent place to stay, once heaven's blessings are enjoyed, you still have to fall. As for the Saha world where we live, although there are many "natural calamities", but so it stimulates our aspiration to "separate suffering and achieve happiness", thereby actively improving the situation, improving the quality of life. life substance. Human civilization for thousands of years is also due to cognitive research and world improvement. It is only in the process of constant and persistent research that we can discover the truth and find the way to liberation. Therefore, Shakyamuni Buddha practiced in the human world and witnessed results, not only Shakyamuni Buddha like this, the Buddhas and World Honored Ones also appeared in the world, no one became a Buddha in heaven. From that sense it can be seen that humanity is an important place, a pivotal place in the six paths. Sentient beings circulating in the six paths, regardless of being born in heaven or falling, take the human realm as a transit station, the key is to know how to preserve their bodies and lives. Use this acquired life body to practice diligently for the purpose of improving life in the future. Keeping the five precepts of ten good virtues is an important premise for achieving human retribution, and is also a basic norm for perfecting one's personality. Only with strict confidentiality and service will the next life be qualified to be in the human realm. continue to practice to the path of becoming a Buddha, otherwise you will lose the opportunity to be a human. Just like if you have passed the entrance exam to the academy, you are eligible to become a monk, but if you violate the rules and regulations of the school, you will have to be expelled. It can be said that observing the five precepts and the ten good deeds is a guarantee for us to continue to be human. 3. Social Security Since ancient times, our human society has always been in a state of turmoil. The biggest thing that destroys social stability is war. Turning the page of the history of mankind can be said to be a whole history of war. A look at Chinese history from the Spring and Autumn of the Warring States, to the Warring States of Han, the Three Kingdoms to the Western Jin, the Eastern Jin, the Thirteen Kingdoms, the Southern Northern Dynasties, the Sui Tang, the Song, the Liao, the Western Xia, the Jin, the Yuan, the Ming. , Thanh every time the main dynasty changes are wars. Not only China, but the history of countries around the world is like that. To this day, wars and conflicts continue to occur all over the world, even if "peace and prosperity", murder still occurs in daily life, it is possible to achieve life " If you don't close the door at night, the road won't be afraid of losing valuables" or not? So it is impossible to say that absolute security on a large scale is impossible. If we practice with the Bodhi mind and the Bodhisattva ground, then the five precepts and ten good deeds can also achieve the bodhisattva's four wages. become the cult of unsurpassed Buddhahood. What factors have made human society so insecure? All in all, from killing, religion, lust, and hope come out. Killing includes war, violence, and killing sentient beings. Killing people and setting fires are killing, killing pigs and goats are killing lives. Tao is not only stealing, cutting walls, digging walls, all actions taken by others as one's own... are theft. Fornication includes wrong conduct, unrighteous behavior. Hope includes deceitful words to harm others for their own benefit. All crimes come from the above four things. As for killing, religion, lust, and echoes, where do they come from? Some people think it's from education issues, people's moral issues, social system issues. Of course, there is also a part from those problems but that is not the basic thing, the root problem is from the human heart. Inner greed, hatred, delusion, If defilements are not resolved, it will be difficult for human society to achieve harmony and peace. Also because of anger, he lost his reason, took a knife to slash, determined to fight for life and death, in addition, because of anger, it led to starting a business to steal, because he was jealous of people's career achievements that he set out to take. or because of anger that gives rise to evil conduct, such as if it is not possible to pursue it, then find a way to persecute it. Also due to the mind of anger, false speech is born because they do not like them, so they hide the truth and fabricate things to cause obstacles for people. Even ignorance, also known as ignorance, is the root cause of all problems. Because of ignorance, greed and anger arise innumerable defilements. Buddhism calls greed, hatred and delusion the three poisons, which are the three great dangers that endanger the social stability and spiritual life of mankind. When greed, hatred, and delusion exist, society is not peaceful that day. Therefore, if you want to improve social morality, you must start with improving humanity. That is what the Confucianists said: "Righteous mind, body cultivation, qi family, rule of the country, peace of the world" "The University of Le Ky" said: "The ancients are educated, and the virtues are false under the world. To rule the country; "Education to rule the false national flag, the first education of the national flag, the education of the ruler of the imperial family, the education of the ruler of the false family, the education of the ruler of the family of the false family, the education of the ruler of the false state of the mind, the basic of the reform of the world must all be from the perfection of individuals. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Every person's body, with perfecting the mind, must start from the conduct of the mind, then it will be possible to conduct a radical transformation of one's life, in order to be able to talk about creating social welfare and benefiting the masses. The Buddhist scriptures record that the wisest and most intelligent people in the world, when consuling, use the ten good deeds to rule the country, so that the people can abide in the ten good paths, so that they can make the world peaceful and harmonious. people settle down and work. In fact, regardless of the era, regardless of the situation, as long as there is one person who knows how to practice the five precepts and ten good deeds, society will add a factor of stability, if there are two people who practice the five precepts and ten good deeds, society will become more stable. There are two factors of stability, the more people who practice the five precepts of ten good deeds, the more factors of social stability. If people know how to practice the five precepts and ten good deeds, then this world is the Pure Land of Human World, the World of Ultimate Bliss. No matter what dharma practice you practice, the first thing is where the mind is generated. Due to the development of the mind, it determines the position in the three vehicles of the Buddhadharma of the practice methods. From this sense, it can be seen that although the five precepts and ten virtues are the content of the practice of the Human Thousand Vehicle, but if we use the mind of renunciation and use the view of the ground of the Thanh Van vehicle to practice, the five precepts and the ten virtues can still be achieved. achievement of the salary of the way of liberation. 4. Basis of the Three Vehicles of Buddhadharma From studying Buddha to becoming a Buddha, there are mainly three vehicles: Human Thien Vehicle, Thanh Van Vehicle, and Bodhisattva Vehicle, also known as the Five Vehicles, including: Human Vehicle, Heavenly Vehicle, Thanh Van Vehicle, and Pratyekabuddha Vehicle. , bodhisattva vehicle. But in everyday life it is not applicable at all. When afflictions arise, they are still afflictions. When you suffer, you still suffer. The scriptures read through are just fighting on paper with no effect at all. The reason why? It is also because we ignore the most basic things in studying Buddhism. If we haven't experienced the complete practice of the Human Thousand Vehicle and the Thanh Van Vehicle, we will not understand how to bring the teachings to be applied thoroughly into our mental behavior, we will not know how to gradually develop the mind. If you don't have those basic mental actions, even if you study the larger Dharma-door, it won't work. No matter what dharma practice, the first thing is where the mind is generated. From the Tang and Song dynasties until now, the Pure Land Amitabha practice has developed in Han Buddhism, especially in recent years, this practice has become more and more popular in the following countries. The second is to uphold the three rules, strictly adhere to the precepts, and not violate the majesty. The third is to generate Bodhicitta, have faith in cause and effect, read and recite the Mahayana, and encourage practitioners. Three such things, called pure karma.
